Electricity is the most common source of locked energy. The two most common types of electric machines and equipment are:

Plug - in electrical equipment

Long term connection or hardwired equipment

Plug - in electrical equipment

Follow these steps to lock the machine and equipment:

1. Identify machines or equipment that need to be disconnected and locked.

2. Turn off the machine or equipment. Ensure that all movable parts are completely stopped.

3. Unplug.

4. Lock the plug individually unless it is within the sight and control of the maintenance worker.

5. Test whether all the power has been cut off.
