Lockout tagout solutions

General requirements

Lockout tagout is a systematic solution that includes the following elements in order to provide effective protection:

All hazardous energy investigations;

Identification of energy isolation device;

Selection and procurement of protective materials and hardware;

Assignment of responsibilities and responsibilities;

Determination of shutdown, disability and startup sequence;

Written operating procedures for the machine;

Training of personnel;

Audit of solution elements.

If the energy isolation device can be locked, it should be locked unless the user can prove that the listing scheme alone provides effective protection for personnel. The energy isolation device can be locked if it is provided with a buckle or an accessory structure that can be locked, or if it has a built-in locking mechanism. The energy isolation device may also be locked if it is not necessary to remove, rebuild, or replace it, or to permanently change its energy control capability. The energy isolation device can also be locked if it does not require dismantling, rebuilding or replacing the energy isolation full-time, or permanently changing its energy control capability.

If the energy isolation device cannot be locked and the risk assessment results show that it is feasible, the listing scheme can be adopted.

If the lockable energy isolation device USES a tag device, the tag device shall be attached to the same position as the lock device, and the user shall certify that the tag plan achieves an effective level of safety.

In certifying the effective level of safety achieved by the listing scheme, the user shall certify full compliance with all listing related provisions of this standard. Additional protection measures shall include, but are not limited to, the removal of isolated circuit elements, the blocking of control switches, the opening of additional disconnecting devices, or the removal of the valve stem to reduce the likelihood of unexpected energy gain.
